Three times as many people across Bradford are getting on their bikes now than in the last two years.
And even more wheels are to be put in motion when the greatest free sports event in the world The Tour De France breezes through the district in July.
To celebrate the riding revolution, a new show starts over the airwaves tonight at 6pm on BCB 106.6fm radio. The BCB Bicycle Show will include tips and hints from an expert panel ranging from mending punctures at the roadside, to who to watch out for at the Tour de France, and where to go for rides and get safety training.
Cycling journalist Malcolm Hoddy will introduce the first show with panelists including Queensbury cycle shop owner Barry Firth, Paul Merrett of Sustrans, mountain biking specialist Iain Johnson and Francine Hoddy of Bradford-based cycle training company Safe 2 Cycle. Cyclist Graham Glover will be dealing with the technical side of the show.
BCB broadcast manager Jonathan Pinfield, said: “Cycling is now on the agenda of thousands of people in the area. We needed to look at a programme on the subject and we have a team of presenters who are experts in their own field and are all dedicated cyclists.
“One aim of the programme is to get listeners involved with question and answer sessions and debating issues around cycling.”
