The former manageress of a hotel which closed unexpectedly in the New Year has offered to help brides left without a venue.
Andrea Murdock worked at the Whitcliffe Hotel in Cleckheaton until September 2012 and expects many brides to be panicking about what will happen to plans to celebrate their big day there.
Although the hotel Mrs Murdock now owns is in mid-Wales, she is hopeful that she will be able to help couples who have been left without a venue.
Mrs Murdock contacted the Telegraph & Argus after reading about the Prospect Road business closing on January 4.
“I’m sure they’ll have had lots of weddings booked in and I know how awful it must be if brides haven’t got a venue,” she said.
“It’s just very sad what’s happened.”
She said many people had contacted her, including staff, after seeing media reports about its closure last week.
Some told her that they had only received a few hours notice about the closure.
She and her husband Rohan, who was chef at the Whitcliffe Hotel, started running the Hotel Commodore in Llandrindod Wells in September 2012.
The couple worked at the Spen Valley hotel from 2011 until September 2012 and at one point had considered buying it, but had an offer of almost £900,000 turned down.
Although Mrs Murdock no longer has an association with the Whitcliffe Hotel, she said she would honour any deposits couples had paid.
The Murdocks new hotel is near a church and within walking distance of the register office.
“Things can be arranged they want to get here, I wouldn’t want to see somebody without a wedding venue,” Mrs Murdock said.
Hotel Commodore’s website is under construction, but couples can view its facilities on the company’s website.
Anyone wanting to take up the Murdock’s offer, can contact the hotel on (01597) 822288.
The owner of the Whitcliffe Hotel, who lives in Essex, said he did not want to comment on its closure.
