Student Sam Cissa works on his version of the London Eye
Budding engineers from two secondary schools built models of the London Eye during a competition at the University of Bradford.
Pupils from Pudsey Grangefield and St Bede’s were tasked with building a 2.8-metre model of the landmark.
Joanne Crowther, of the university, said: “Pudsey won the prize for best wheel because they followed the task to specification. St Bede’s did two smaller wheels, although they were creative and made it into a little carousel.”
She added: “They all enjoyed it – there are definitely some budding engineers.”
The university-led project was co-ordinated by the Engineering Development Trust (EDT), with Joanne adding: “It’s about inspiring youngsters to think about engineering as a career.”
