Residents across the Bradford district are being urged to remain vigilant in the fight against opportunist rogue traders.
West Yorkshire Police has highlighted various techniques used by offenders to try to con their victims, such as claiming utility problems or damage to a property to gain access to homes.
Crime Prevention Officer Chris Joyce said the need to stay security savvy was particularly important at this time of year. “There is a minority of individuals operating in the county who intentionally dupe occupants into handing over their money and will attempt all manner of tactics,” he said.
“It is important that people are alive to these possibilities, in particular those who are the most vulnerable within our communities. Dealing with a rogue trader can have a seriously detrimental effect on a victim’s health and confidence.”
If you have any concerns about individuals operating in this manner, contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
