A 12-year-old boy, who knocked on doors in Lidget Green fraudulently claiming he was collecting money for the Salvation Army, has been arrested on suspicion of fraud.
The incidents took place shortly before Christmas, and involved the boy knocking on doors and claiming he was collecting for his school and the charity.
It is thought he successfully received money.
After help from the public, the boy was arrested. He has now been released on bail pending further inquiries.
A police spokesman said: “Remember, don’t give money to anybody unless you are absolutely sure who they are and what they are collecting for.”
