A scheme to encourage young adults with learning disabilities to use their local library has been deemed a success.
Members of Ambitions4 Kirklees in Mirfield will be attending an event at Mirfield Library on Tuesday to be presented with their “six book challenge” certificates.
For the past year, library staff have been working in partnership with the community group, which has seen groups of young adults with learning disabilities visiting the library regularly, borrowing at least six books of their choice over the course of six weeks.
They took part in activities like healthy-eating, local history and felt-making tailored to the needs and interests of each group and the aim was to encourage them to feel confident in using the library.
