A malicious caller hoaxed firefighters in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Crews were called to reports of people trapped in a flat fire in Church Street, Keighley, at around 1.17am.
But when they got there, the firefighters realised it was a hoax.
Crew commander Michael Dunwell warned people against making such calls, saying it meant they couldn’t attend real emergencies.
He said: “People need to be careful with malicious calls. It’s wasting our time when we could be at other things.”
He said the police were now investigating.
