Former Royal Marine Andrew Burden is Silsden’s Firefighter of the Year.
He won the accolade following a vote among the retained station’s 12-strong crew.
The award was presented at a special event held in Silsden’s Sunnybank Social Club, which also featured a band – Catch 22 – a buffet and raffle.
Mr Burden, 44, whose full-time job is chimney sweep and stove installer, has been a firefighter at Silsden for nearly four years.
“I was surprised when it was announced I’d won the award – I’m no different to any of the other lads – but I am delighted and proud,” he said.
“I’ve organised a lot of the charity and community work this last year so I guess that’s why my name was put forward.”
