Three people are in police custody after a 23-year-old man was found unconscious in a Bradford street early today.
The discovery was made by a resident of Woodhall View, Thornbury, shortly after 7am.
The man was found lying on an unmade road close to some disused garages and appeared to have suffered a head injury.
He was taken by ambulance to Bradford Royal Infirmary.
Police cordoned off part of the street at nearby Woodhall Place and Woodhall Terrace while a scenes of crime team searched the area and officers inteviewed residents.
The cordon was eventually removed by the afternoon.
Police have arrested two 19-year-old men and another man of a similar age on suspicion of assault.
Detective Inspector Richard Partis, of Bradford South CID, said: "Indications from residents are that the man had been assaulted."
