Voluntary and community groups are being urged to get involved in a campaign to bring £1 million of European money to Keighley.
Councillors say the involvement of residents will be vital to the success of any bid for Community Led Local Development cash. The initiative brings together several European Union funding streams to tackle small community projects.
The Leeds City Region, which includes Bradford district, has designated Keighley’s Central, East and West wards as a suitable area to set up a Local Action Group. This group – which must include both community groups and public bodies – will focus on a particular theme, such as job creation or the needs of young people.
Coun Khadim Hussain, who represents Keighley Central on Bradford Council, said he was optimistic the town could access some of the European cash.
