A woman from Bradford who acted as a Good Samaritan by trying to calm an arguing couple ended up with a broken nose after she was punched in the face.

The 45-year-old woman tried to intervene when the couple began arguing and fighting on a train.

But her good nature was rewarded with a punch on the nose and she had to be treated at hospital.

British Transport Police has issued a new appeal, with images of a female suspect, to try to trace the attacker.

The late-evening incident happened on a train between Leeds and Halifax.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Tom Eastwood, said: “A man and woman were arguing and fighting on the train.

“When a female passenger attempted to intervene and asked the couple to calm down, she was punched in the face by the woman.

“The 45-year-old victim, from Bradford, was extremely shaken and sustained a broken nose which required hospital treatment.”

Det Con Eastwood said: “We want to identify the woman pictured, who left the train at Halifax, as we believe she has key information about what took place.”

The assault took place on board the 11.08pm service from Leeds to Halifax, on Friday, November 8, at around 11.45pm.
