The makers of a multi-million pound film exploring the lives of the Bronte sisters have announced their first major casting selection. Rachel Teate (pictured), who is a regular in the BAFTA-nominated supernatural television series Wolfblood, has been chosen for the role of Anne Bronte.
Responding to the news, the actress, who is originally from North Yorkshire, said: “I’m incredibly excited about being part of the film, and being able to play Anne Bronte is a dream. I can't wait to start filming!”
In October of this year Yorkshire-based Clothworkers Films revealed an estimated cost of £10 million for its planned biopic about the Bronte siblings - Charlotte, Emily and Anne. The production company said the film would be the world’s first English-language project of its kind. The two-hour film is due to be released in April 21, 2016. As well as playing the character Kara Waterman in Wolfblood on CBBC and Disney International, Ms Teate has experience in both theatrical productions and short films. She said: “I’ve never been to Haworth before but I’m definitely going to pop up in the New Year.”
