Bradford mosques are urging people to donate food to families in need this winter.
Bradford Imams Forum is supporting the Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank, which distributes food parcels to families and individuals districtwide and has issued an urgent plea for donations. Last week the organisation revealed it handed out a record 820 food parcels in a month – seven times more than two years ago. Mohammed Mustaqeem Shah, secretary of Bradford Imams Forum, said mosques are asking people for donations of food, as part of an ongoing scheme.
“We represent 28 mosques in Bradford. Once a month a mosque will ask its local community to help out,” said Mr Shah. “We recognise the need for parcels when people will be struggling.”
