Magistrates have urged a woman to seek help after she admitted being drunk and disorderly in a hospital.
Victoria Walker, 36, of Kirkgate, Keighley, pleaded guilty to the charge during an incident at Airedale General Hospital on December 11, when she appeared before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on Christmas Eve.
Prosecutor Nadine Clough told the court that Walker had phoned the police as she had locked herself out of her home, claiming she had been burgled and had taken an overdose of tablets.
Police took her to hospital, where she was abusive towards staff and police, trying to spit at one officer, and had to be handcuffed and placed in leg restraints.
Chairman of the ’ bench, Andrew Eastell, told Walker he was concerned for her well-being. She was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 costs.
