Oakworth residents plan to pay a floral tribute to the Tour de France next summer.
The Friends of Holden Park hope to decorate the village park’s bowling green fence with old bike parts festooned with flowers.
They could also plant floral displays in the shape of riders’ jerseys using the race’s traditional colours.
Children at nearby Oakworth Primary School could get involved by attaching floral bike parts to their fences.
The Friends group wants to celebrate the Tour de France even though the race will not pass through Oakworth.
Their display could form part of the park’s entry in next year’s Keighley and Yorkshire in Bloom competitions.
Friends member Julie Eaton had the idea for the floral tribute after visiting St Malo in France the day after last year’s Tour de France, and seeing floral bike displays outside local shops.
She said Friends’ members will be collecting bike parts during the next few months. She said: “We’ll buy some planters and fasten them to the bikes. We’re going to cut out shapes of the riders’ shirts and decorate them.”
