A man has died after his car hit a wall and a lamp post in Bingley.
The 34-year-old was at the wheel of a black BMW when it left the road at about 1.40am yesterday. The crash happened on Bradford Road, near one of the entrances to Beckfoot School.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, said police.
The impact - which was about 50 yards from Southlands Avenue - sent stones from the wall tumbling into the school grounds and left a lamp-post leaning on a tree. Smashed lights were left close to the tree, which had had part of its bark stripped off by the collision.
A police spokesman said: “A short time before the crash, the vehicle was in a collision with a number of parked cars on Main Street, Bingley.”
The man was from Bingley, said police.
A woman who witnessed the aftermath of the crash said the car ended up in the middle of the road.
