A ‘living Advent calendar’ where people decorate their windows with festive scenes has been more popular than ever before, say organisers.
Each night from December 1, a different festive scene is illuminated at homes and shops throughout Saltaire, drawing large crowds each evening.
The Saltaire Living Advent Calendar, which has been running since 2006, is organised by Saltaire Inspired.
Co-ordinator David Starley said this year’s event had been the most successful yet.
“It’s really taken off. It’s been more popular than we’ve known before. We’ve had lots of people walking the streets and Facebook has gone crazy.
“The greatest compliment is that lots of other places are saying, ‘if Saltaire is doing it, we can do it.’”
On Christmas Eve, villagers are invited to meet at Saltaire Bookshop on Myrtle Place at 4pm to tour some of the homes.
