A drink-driver who led police on a three-mile chase through Bradford streets has been jailed for ten months.
Atif Shazad, 23, of Grove Terrace, Great Horton, Bradford, was twice the legal limit when he drove at speeds up to 70mph, ignoring road junctions, driving through red traffic lights and weaving from side to side to prevent pursuing police cars overtaking him, Bradford Crown Court heard.
He was eventually stopped but two police cars were damaged and two officers suffered minor injuries.
The chase took place at 4.15am and the Recorder of Bradford, Judge Roger Thomas QC, said it was fortunate there were few people on the roads.
Shazad pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving over the prescribed limit, failing to stop for a constable, assaulting two PCs and resisting arrest.
