Editorial staff at the Telegraph & Argus and social housing group Incommunities have joined other generous local organisations in donating lots of toys for children from homeless families Christmas.
Matt Askins, of Octavia Court, which houses 21 such families, took delivery of scores of gifts from the newspaper’s sub-editors.
Incommunities also presented more than 100 toys kindly donated by staff to the Temporary Accommodation Team at Octavia House.
Other donations also came from the Abundant Life Centre and Inn Churches to bring some festive cheer to nearly 36 children and their families who have become homeless living at Octavia Court and at other temporary shelters across Bradford.
Many of the gifts will be given out at a Christmas party on Monday.
Incommunities Group chief executive Geraldine Howley said: “Thanks to these kind gifts, each child will have the joy of opening their own presents this Christmas.”
As well as the toys for the children at Octavia Court, Telegraph & Argus sub-editors also provided 15 homeless teenagers in lodgings with gifts to open on Christmas morning.
They raised nearly £300 for both charities through the Christmas In The Community appeal.
T&A sub-editor Phil Weller said: "At this time of year, it's always good to think about those less fortunate than ourselves.
“Through the Christmas In The Community appeal, we've helped bring a few smiles to the faces of families and youngsters who otherwise wouldn't receive any presents on Christmas morning."
