Bradford MP George Galloway has called for the principal and trustees of scandal-hit free school Kings Science Academy to stand down.
Police are investigating allegations of fraud at the school, and on Wednesday Michael Gove said he would not suspend principal Sajid Raza until the investigation has concluded.
Mr Galloway, MP for Bradford West, said: “I have had several calls and emails from concerned parents about the stewardship of the school and their children's education. Frankly I cannot understand why the principal Sajid Raza and the trustees have not stepped down while the police investigation continues.
"It is normal in politics that ministers demit their responsibilities when inquiries about their handling of affairs is live. I would simply say to them, 'do the decent thing'. If you are interested in the children's wellbeing and the parents' concern that is the honourable and the necessary step."
He has submitted a Parliamentary motion calling for Mr Gove to encourage Mr Raza to resign.
