Bradford's Batman, Stan Worby, will be out and about working hard for the community in the New Year after a judge sentenced him to 200 hours of unpaid work.
Worby, 40, of Milner Ing, Delph Hill, Bradford, was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court yesterday after a jury last month convicted him of burgling tools from a householder’s garage.
Judge David Hatton QC said although Worby had a long criminal record, he had kept out of trouble for two years and not committed a burglary for 13 years.
Worby was sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.
His solicitor advocate, Simon Hustler, said he had lost his job after his conviction for burgling a garage in Summerhall Ing, Wyke, Bradford, on April 14 was made public.
In February, Worby made worldwide headlines after he handed in a wanted man at Trafalgar House Police Station, Bradford, dressed as superhero character Batman.
