A district judge yesterday ordered the destruction of meat found to be ‘unfit for human consumption’ when it was seized from a business in Cleckheaton.
Mohammed Khan of LDX, also trading as La Jawaab at Moor End Works on Balme Road, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court to challenge an application by Kirklees Council to have the food condemned. However, after hearing representations from both sides, the court found the meat was unfit for human consumption and ordered it be destroyed.
The meat included seven carrier bags of raw chicken, two carrier bags of raw minced meat, one tray of mixed cooked meat products, seven boxes or raw samosas and two tubs of cooked chicken pieces.
After the hearing, a spokesman for Kirklees Council said the meat had been taken from the premises and incinerate yesterday.
