A motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a crash in Bradford this evening is a man aged in his 50s, said police.
His blue Yamaha bike was in collision with a red Kia Picanto on Canal Road, at the junction with Frizinghall Road, at about 4.50pm.
The motorcyclist was trapped under the car following the collision. His mangled bike ended up yards from the car.
Firefighters used specialist lifting equipment to get the vehicle off the motorcyclist before leaving him in the care of ambulance crews.
Police closed Canal Road following the crash. It remained closed at 7.30pm while accident investigators worked at the scene.
The closure has led to heavy traffic congestion on nearby roads and alternative routes.
