A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder as part of the West Yorkshire wide hunt for a missing sex offender.

On Friday police issued an urgent appeal for information on the whereabouts of Robert Edward Hind, 46, who was last seen in Huddersfield on Wednesday.

A 46-year-old man has subsequently been arrested yesterday in the Milnsbridge area on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

West Yorkshire Police Superintendent Scott Wood of the Protective Services Department is leading the investigation and said: “It is imperative that we quickly ascertain the movements of Robert Edward Hind from December 11. There is the potential that he has come to harm and we are investigating every possible scenario as part of this ongoing enquiry.”

They are now looking for a man captured on CCTV with Hind at Huddersfield bus station on Wednesday morning at 9.20am.
