Bradford Bulls last night revealed it had made a series of cuts across every department of the club except the playing staff.
The cash-strapped Super League outfit announced earlier this month that it must save £400,000 over the next 12 months to survive.
A number of cutbacks this week saw staff redundancies, wage reductions – based on hours worked – and overall budget cuts.
Chief executive Robbie Hunter-Paul did not place a figure on the amount of jobs lost or reduced but said each department had been cut by “around twenty per cent.”
My Hunter-Paul said the coaching, ticketing, retail, lottery, stadium management, conference and banqueting and commercial departments had all been affected.
He explained: “Some staff have left and others have had their hours cut, with others going onto hourly pay as opposed to contracts.
“All the managers in the business are still in place and it’s case of the club having in place what we need as opposed to what we want.
“The reality is that we want to function as a Super League club and not a Championship club, which is exactly what we’re doing.”
The Bulls’ players were asked to take a ten per cent cut by the club earlier this week but turned the request down and instead suggested deferring part of their wages – but no agreement was struck.
Mr Hunter-Paul said: “As a business it was not embraced across the business and so the other measures were implemented.
“The streamlining process, which is designed to cut costs and reduce previous unrealistic budgets, is now under way.
“The process is ongoing.”
