Emergency services were called to Lynfield Mount Psychiatric Hospital, Bradford, early today after a patient got on to the roof.
The 55-year-old man was eventually brought down safely with the help of firefighters using an aerial platform after being reassured by paramedics and police officers who went up on the roof.
The alarm was raised by hospital staff at 4.58am and the man was rescued at 6.30am.
