People across Bradford are being urged to take extra care during firefighters’ strikes today and tomorrow.
The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) will hold a fifth period of strike action in a row over Government changes to their pensions between 6pm and 10pm on both days.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s assistant Chief Officer Dave Walton said: “The previous four strike periods have passed without major incident and our contingency measures have stood us in good stead.
“This time around we are into the run-up to Christmas and people may well be looking forward to parties this weekend.
“Whilst we do not want to spoil anyone’s fun, we hope the public can help us by helping themselves.
“We always remind drivers that roads can be hazardous in December, so if you are going out ensure your vehicle is prepared, drive carefully and never drink and drive.
“We want people to enjoy this festive period safely.”
