Police are appealing for information after two men armed with baseball bats attacked a driver and stole a “large quantity” of cigarettes in a robbery outside a shop in Bradford.
Police said the raid happened as a courier arrived to deliver cigarettes to Fagley Superstore, on Fagley Terrace, at about 2.50pm yesterday.
The male courier was “roughed up” but not seriously injured, said a police spokesman.
The suspects are described as Asian, aged in their mid-20s, between 5ft 10 and 6ft tall, and wearing hoods and scarves.
They fled the scene in a white Peugeot van and are believed to have travelled along Fagley Road towards Killinghall Road. The van was found abandoned on Airedale College Terrace 20 minutes after the robbery. Witnesses said they saw two men running from the vehicle.
Police said they have CCTV images of the suspects, but are keen for witnesses to come forward. Ring police on 101.
