A former tenant of the Keighley Town Council-run civic centre has admitted using threatening or abusive language with intent to cause fear during an incident with a town councillor. But Grant Doyle pleaded not guilty to assaulting Town Councillor Graham Mitchell when he appeared before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court.
Doyle, of Airedale View, Cross Hills, is now due to face trial in the magistrates’ court on March 7, when he will also be sentenced for the offence he admitted. Both the assault accusation and the offence relate to an incident involving Doyle and Coun Mitchell in North Street, Keighley, on Thursday, September 19.
Coun Mitchell represents Oakworth ward on the council, and is chairman of the watch and transport committee.
Doyle, a property agent, previously had his business based in part of the Keighley Civic Centre, in North Street.
