Emergency work to fix a gas leak has closed a road in Wyke this afternoon .
Engineers from Northern Gas Networks are carrying out repairs to a gas main on Carr Lane, near its junction with New Works Road and Brighouse Road.
Northern Gas Networks network officer, Dean Woolley, said that in order to carry out the essential work safely and efficiently, the road has been closed and signed diversions have been put in place.
He added: “We’d like to apologise to motorists for any inconvenience caused while these essential repairs are carried out. The safety of members of the public is always our first priority and we’d like to thank everyone for their cooperation.”
Anyone who smells gas should call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
