A primary school has been nominated for an award celebrating its hard-hitting campaign to beat bullying.
Youngsters at Merlin Top Primary Academy, Keighley, designed posters to put up around school and wore anti-bullying wristbands during National Anti-Bullying Week.
Children also came to school dressed in blue clothes to match the colour representing the initiative and teachers arranged role play and discussion sessions to help pupils make the right decisions if they are confronted by abuse.
The initiative has earned the school a nomination for an Innovation Award at the Telegraph & Argus Schools Awards.
Head teacher Michael Harrison said: “We used this year's week to raise awareness of the issue that can affect all our children.
“We talked about bullying in class and in assembly.
“Pupils made anti-bullying slogans and posters for their classrooms.
“The School Council provided 'Beat Bullying' wristbands for all the children and staff, and the week ended with a Wear Blue to School Day, as well as the launch of a new anti-bullying policy.
“At Merlin Top we are all working together to tackle bullying in all its forms.”
The anti-bullying campaign is just one of many initiatives run by the school.
Earlier this year, pupils proved they know their onions when it comes to France by sampling French food and learning the language as part of a range of activities based on the country.
Funding awarded by West ward councillors Adrian Farley, Keith Dredge and Jan Smithies enabled Merlin Top to run a French after-school club for pupils in years four to six.
Sessions were led by Madame Steph Spence.
There was also a vocabulary taster for younger pupils, games, a Bastille Day party and cafe.
