Co-operative members have given a total of £6,000 to five community groups in Bradford.
The groups received the cash from The Co-operative’s Community Fund, a pot of money accumulated by member customers opting to donate all or part of their annual dividend to good causes in the area.
Down Syndrome Training and Support Service Ltd has been given £2,000 towards recruiting a new youth worker for the group’s planned youth club.
Thackley Football Club has been awarded £1,400 to refurbish and repair the club’s changing rooms.
The Bradford Beekeepers’ Association has been given £500 towards bee suits for its planned youth outreach programme.
Clayton Gospel Hall has been awarded £2,000 towards maintenance on the building.
And elderly support group The Saturday Club has received £500 towards arts and craft materials and DVDs.
Sian Nicholas, of Bradford Beekeepers’ Association, said: “Funding is becoming ever harder to secure, therefore we were delighted to hear that we were successful in securing this grant from The Co-operative.
“The cash has made a huge difference to our group and it means all the more knowing that the money has been donated by local people.”
