It’s the kind of thing you might dream about – a bus load of millionaires arriving on your doorstep laden with gifts.
And yesterday volunteers at charity Hive experienced just that when a vintage Routemaster bus pulled-up at their base at the Kirkgate Centre in Shipley.
Onboard were some of the region’s biggest National Lottery winners, including Margaret and David Storey, of Shipley, who won £1.4 million in 1998. With them were Susan and Michael Crossland, of Mirfield, who won £1.2 million in 2008.
The winners threw a Christmas party for the charity’s unsung heroes, who volunteer throughout the year to help others in the commun-ity.
The Shipley stop was just one on the Winner Wonderland tour, when winners deliver some festive fun to National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.
The millionaires adorned the centre with Christmas decorations, helped prepare a hearty festive lunch and led volunteers in a few carols.
