Two historic homes will be throwing open their doors for visitors to experience Christmas past.
From noon until 3.30pm tomorrow youngsters will be able to create crafts to take home at Red House Museum in Gomersal. Proceeds will help preserve the house and its collection.
The popular ‘Deck the Halls’ event from 4pm until 8pm on Thursday will see the former home of mill owner Joshua Taylor and his family trimmed up 19th century style to celebrate Christmas.
On December 14 and 15 Red House Christmas acknowledges the celebrations there 200 years ago.
Visitors will meet ‘Joshua Taylor’ and watch the cook creating some traditional dishes and will also have the opportunity to create a traditional decoration. Oakwell Hall in Nutter Lane, Birstall, will also be decking its halls for Christmas.
From 4pm until 8pm on December 17 there will be a costumed tour of the house along with festive refreshments.
Booking is essential for all events.
Call Oakwell Hall on (01924) 326240 or Red House on (01274) 335100.
