A bloodless coup occurred at Samuel Lister Academy, Cottingley, when students took over the school as part of a national event.
Dubbed the ‘11 Million Takeover Day’ the event gave young people a chance to work with adults for the day and even 'take-over' their jobs temporarily.
At Samuel Lister, students were given the opportunity to apply for several jobs ranging from being the Academy’s Principal to being the Lord Mayor of Bradford!?
The day began with a visit from the Lord Mayor Khadim Hussain himself, who was very impressed by the way students carried themselves around the Academy.
Student Chloe Kozlow took on the role of Principal and attended six meetings within the day.
“This experience has definitely changed my view of the school, I now understand the effort required behind running a successful Academy,” she said.
Ferhaz Alam took on the role of Lord Mayor for the day and shadowed Coun Hussain on his duties around Bradford and was treated a guided tour of his own school.
Bec Osbourne, Principal of Samuel Lister Academy, said “It's nice for students to get a look at what goes on behind the scenes, this experience is great in terms of career opportunities and for making their CV's stand out from the crowd!”
