"There is nothing like a dame’ goes the song – and Keighley Amateurs have the biggest of all.
The Amateurs’ production of family panto Mother Goose stars Steven Clark as the Dame and the cast also includes Tim Steere, Fiona Spencer and Brogan Hollindrake.
“Mother Goose brings us firmly back to the familiar village pantomime,” says Steven. “I am really looking forward to playing the Dame and working with Peter Whitley as we co-direct the pantomime once more. We have a superb set of children, dancers and panto principals and the most wonderful loveable goose, Priscilla.”
The show is sponsored by Yorkshire Tea. Steven says the company was approached by the society because a significant part of the show involves drinking tea.
“During each performance we will crown one lucky mother a winner and her prize will be a year’s supply of Yorkshire Tea. Mother Goose is loved by her family and they try to show her throughout how special she is – and we want to do the same.”
Youngsters are asked to write to Mother Goose stating why their mum is special. Nine lucky winners will be invited to the panto.
“As a mother and grandmother I know how tiring things can be, so we want to say to all the mothers out there take a moment, have a rest and thank you for all that you do,” says chairman Louise Barton.
Entries should be sent in writing to panto@keighleyamateurs.com no later than January 5, 2014.
Mother Goose runs at Victoria Hall from January 25 to February 1, with matinees on Saturdays and Sundays. For tickets, visit keighley amateurs.com, or call 08456 252550.
