CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP CHURCH: The organisers of a coffee morning held in aid of the MacMillan Cancer Relief thank all who supported this event which raised £270. Tonight the Youth Groups meet in the Church from 6.15pm. Morning worship on Sunday at 10.30am will be by Glenn Wilson and the 6.30pm service is with David Wilson. The Toddler Group meets on Monday and Tuesday from 9.45am. The coffee morning is on Thursday from 10am. The writers’ workshop is on Thursday in the church from 12.30pm.
NEW HORIZONS: The Art Group will meet as usual on Tuesday and on Thursday Jane Austin will be presenting a workshop demonstration. These meetings are held in the Friends Meeting House, Scholes Lane, Scholes, at 2pm. Paintings of the group are being exhibited in Matthew’s Coffee House, Cleckheaton, in December. The sequence dances are on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month in the Methodist Church Hall, off Towngate, from 1.30pm to 4pm. The gardening club will be presenting a Christmas Medieval Event on Wednesday at 2pm in the Christian Fellowship Church.
CHRISTIAN COUNCIL: The monthly prayer meeting is on Saturday at 9.15am at the Moravian Church in Lower Wyke. The community carol sing is being held in the Wyke Centre Car Park on Tuesday, December 17, from 6pm. Music is by the Salvation Army Band. Hot dogs, glowsticks and refreshments will be available at the event.
ST MARY’S CHURCH: Teddy Tots and Toddlers Christmas fair is on Saturday in the church hall from 10am to 3pm with stalls selling Christmas presents. Hot lunches and snacks will be available. In the evening the annual brass band concert by the Clifton and Lightcliffe Band is at 7.15pm. Admission is £7 including refreshments. Holy Communion is on Sunday at 10.30am with the Reverends Adrian Cragg and Margaret Lyons.
WYKE LIBRARY: On Saturday, December 14, a family craft day is being held in the Library, Woodside Road, with mince pies and carols from 10am to 11am, Christmas cake decorating from 12.30pm to 3pm, plus children’s storytime and cracker making. The monthly book club is on Thursday, December 19, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm when author Geoff Lee will be talking about his book Two Seasons.
MORAVIAN CHURCH: Tonight the Adventurers youth group meets in the Sunday School at 7pm. On Saturday the Wyke Christian Council will be holding the monthly prayer meeting in the church at 9.15am. A Service of Nine Lessons and Carols is on Sunday at 10.30am.
RUGBY LEAGUE: After a break in fixtures for the World Cup the Wyke ARFLC will be hoping to resume with a win when the first team travel to West Leeds on Saturday and the second team playing at home in the Recreation Ground to rivals Odsal Sedbergh at 2pm.
SERVICES: Services on Sunday at 10.30am will be by Christine Milner at the Methodist Church and John Longbottom at the Westfield UR Church.
GUILD: The Townswomen’s Guild will be enjoying a Christmas Party on Tuesday at 2.15pm in the Methodist Church Hall.
