A former nurse at Bradford Royal Infirmary before and during the Second World War celebrated her 100th birthday with a gathering of more than 30 family and friends.
Myra Akroyd was joined by her son, Richard, who flew from his home in Switzerland especially for the occasion at the Springfield care home in Buttershaw where she is a resident.
She was also joined by her grandson, James, and her three great-grandchildren, and tepchildren Ian, Gordon and Doug Akroyd and Annie Macgowan.
Myra was married to her second husband, Dr Tom Akroyd, a GP for Queensbury and Shelf, for 15 years until his death in 1994.
Until recent years she was a keen bridge player, and enjoyed cooking, crochet and tatting, and still enjoys tackling her daily newspaper crossword.
She said: “It's wonderful to have all these people here to help me celebrate my 100th birthday. I really do appreciate it.”
