Twitter abuse suffered by Olympic diver Tom Daley since he announced he was in a relationship with a man has been condemned in Parliament by Pudsey Conservative MP Stuart Andrew.

Mr Andrew said some of the language directed against the 19-year-old on the social networking site had been “horrific” and he called for a change in attitudes and culture to help stop cyber bullying.

Earlier this year Mr Andrew described how he had been “beaten unconscious” in a brutal homophobic attack in 1997.
