Northern cities are bearing the brunt of public sector cuts, according to a new campaign being backed by the leader of Bradford Council.
Councillor David Green, who heads the Labour-run Council, is backing calls for Chancellor George Osborne to halt the growing divide in funding between authorities in the North and South, saying Bradford has lost a far higher proportion of funding than comparable councils in wealthier parts of the country.
Lobbying group SIGOMA, which represents large urban authorities, is leading the campaign as the Chancellor prepares to make his Autumn Statement in which he will set out future spending plans.
Coun Green said the future viability of local services depended on the Government taking notice.
