Up to 200 friends and family have said an emotional final farewell to a young mother-of-two found strangled in a caravan.

Jade Watson's younger sisters helped carry her pink rose-covered coffin into St Cuthbert's Church, Wrose, Shipley, yesterday for the hour-long thanksgiving and funeral service.

Mourners were wearing her favourite colour of pink and were asked to write down memories in a book decorated with sparkling gems and butterflies to be given to her children when they are old enough.

Police had been called to a house in Wood Lane, Swain House, Bradford, by the ambulance service which had responded to reports of a woman with “serious head injuries” who was not breathing on Tuesday, November 5.

Officers were directed to a caravan in the garden where paramedics had been trying to save the 22-year-old's life but she was pronounced dead shortly before 6pm.

Miss Watson, of Plumpton Gardens, Wrose, worked in The In Plaice fish and chip shop on Sunbridge Road in Bradford city centre.

Friends described her as a “fantastic mother” to her children, Jacob, four, and Ella, two, and the service included tributes from her sister Ellie, 12, who said life would not be as much fun without her being around and that she would be the best aunty she could be to her big sister's children aged two and four.

Her older sister, Beckie Watson, said Jade would have been overwhelmed by the love people had shown and spoke of the “fairty-tale” romance between her sister and “her knight in shining armour” Chris, who had been in her life the last three months before she died.

“One thing she wanted more than anything was to love and be loved. The love they had for each other was like a fairytale, it was beautiful,” she said.

A poignant message on a floral tribute from her partner, Chris, read: “To my gorgeous girl Jade. We had so many plans which have all been torn apart. Rest now babe.”

James Gray, a former boyfriend of Miss Watson, has been charged with her murder.

The 25-year-old, of Wood Lane, Swain House, is due to appear before Bradford Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on December 23.

An inquest into Miss Watson's death has been adjourned pending the completion of criminal proceedings.
