Firefighters were called to rescue a kitten which had got stuck behind kitchen units in the middle of the night.
The pet’s owner had tried for an hour to free the animal at her house in Granton Street, Laisterdyke, Bradford, before calling the emergency service at 3.30am today.
Bradford firefighters used a hammer to lever a kitchen partition and free the kitten, which was wedged by its neck.
“The occupier was in a lot of distress. She’d been trying to get her out for about an hour and couldn’t, so called us,” said crew commander James Walker.
“It was absolutely fine. It did look like it was struggling to breathe when it was trapped, the owner was worried, but it was fine.
“She was very happy.”
