Emergency repairs are being carried out on a damaged gas main in Bradford.
Northern Gas Networks engineers are replacing a stretch of old iron gas main with plastic pipes which the company says will ensure the safe and reliable supply of gas to hundreds of customers in the city.
The work is taking place on worn pipes in Thornton Road between the junctions of Listerhills Road and Quebec Street. It is expected to take about eight weeks and temporary traffic lights will be in place.
Construction manager Michael Burdett said: “We’d like to apologise to pedestrians and motorists for any inconvenience caused while these essential repairs are carried out. The safety of members of the public is always our first priority and we’d like to thank everyone for their co-operation.”
Anyone who smells gas can call the Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
