Bradford Festival Choral Society has been chosen by the Association of British Choral directors to host one of its prestigious choral conducting apprenticeships.
Alexander Douglas will work as an apprentice to the choir’s musical director Thomas Leech over the next year.
Mr Douglas’ conducting journey began when he was awarded a full scholarship to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
He was music director for the Blaenau Gwent Chorale before being invited to be chorusmaster for a major community oratorio project for Welsh National Opera.
He is now based in Manchester and works as a Christian minister.
The choir’s next concert is the Family Christmas Spectacular at St George’s Hall on Saturday, December 21, at 3pm, which will also feature performances by Bradford Catholic Youth Choirs, and accompanied by the Rothwell Temperance Band.
