Low Moor chemical firm BASF will be testing its siren this week.
There will be tests of its off-site emergency siren at 10am and 8pm on Thursday.
The siren, which produces a sound of increasing and decreasing pitch, will sound for one minute on each occasion.
There is no need for members of the public who hear it to take any action.
The test sounding is being carried out as part of the company’s obligations under the Control of Major Accident Hazards regulations.
Emergency services and residents have been informed.
