Bingley travelled back in time for its Christmas lights switch-on when the famous DeLorean car from Back To The Future rolled in to town carrying TV gardener Katie Rushworth who flicked the switch.

Chairman of Bingley Chamber of Trade Howard Martin said the whole day had exceeded organisers’ expectations with a fantastic turnout and the town’s market bustling and bigger than ever, with many stalls selling out.

“It’s been a lot of effort from the chamber and it’s volunteers, but well worth it at the end of the day. It just shows that if you can put these kind of events on, people will back you up and support it. The whole day has exceeded our expectations.”
