Bradford Junior Chamber International’s Secret Santa appeal began in style over the weekend, with the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Khadim Hussain, adopting the role of Santa’s little helper.
The appeal, now in its 24th year, collects 3,500 presents to give to disadvantaged children.
Sponsored for the third year by the 5Rise Shopping Centre in Bingley, the appeal started at Bradford’s Kirkgate Centre on Saturday, boosted by the Lord Mayor’s appearance.
Philip Cavalier-Lumley, of JCI, said: “This project is one of the largest of its kind in the country, and we would like to thank each and every person, school, business and organisation who has donated a present.”
He said they had helped child’s Christmas more special. For details of the fund, which runs until December 15, visit jcibradford.org.uk /secret-santa.
