Bradford West MP George Galloway has tabled a Parliamentary motion highlighting the plight of carers across the country, saying carers in Bradford have not claimed £12.6 million they are entitled to.
The Respect MP said there were 32,000 carers not claiming the Carer’s Allowance and urged the Government to raise awareness of the fund. “These are some of the most dedicated and devoted people in the country, looking after relatives full-time, but they are also among the poorest,” he said, adding it was a ‘tragedy’ that so many were not claiming the Carer’s Allowance.
