The chairman of Bradford City Football Club has visited his old primary school to present pupils with a book about the team’s historic season.
Mark Lawn visited Parkland, formerly Thorpe Edge Primary School, in Old Park Road with copies of The League of Dreams.
The book tells the story of the club’s 2012-13 season, which saw the team promoted and playing at Wembley twice. It was produced by the Friends of Bradford City and the Co-Operative.
Six of the books are being donated to each primary school in Bradford.
Mark Neale, chairman of Friends of BCFC, said “This unique book is an excellent way of not only providing an exciting way of offering a memento of that history-making season, but also fulfilling a real need, and offering encouragement for local children to improve their reading skills.”
For every sale, £1 will be donated to the Bradford City Football in the Community Foundation , which aims to raise junior football participation.
The book will be available from W H Smiths in Bradford, Bradford City Club shop, selected Bradford Co-op food halls and via the FoBCFC web site priced £5.
