Yorkshire Water has scrapped planned higher price increases to slightly ease the financial pressure on households.
The company announced that any rise in bills will be linked to inflation and therefore not be as high as previously planned for the next financial year.
In 2014 the average bill will be £373, £6 lower than expected and Yorkshire Water is also committed to keeping future rises in line with inflation for the following five years.
Expressing concerns about rising household costs, it has decided not to push ahead with the planned 2014-15 price increase already agreed with industry-regulator Ofwat in 2009.
